UPDATE: Kentucky State Police Investigates Multi-Vehicle Crash in Woodford County

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 18, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police at Post 12 in Frankfort continue their investigation into the Woodford County collision that left three individuals deceased and three injured on September 12, 2025.  The preliminary investigation shows that a commercial vehicle operated by Matthew Jackson, 43, of Hamilton, OH, struck a white Nissan passenger vehicle operated by Shane Downey, 55, of Frankfort, KY.  Mr. Downey was transported by a third party to Georgetown Hospital for non life-threatening injuries. Jackson’s commercial vehicle then continued and struck another passenger vehicle operated by Casey Whitlock, 50, of Georgetown, KY.  Ms. Whitlock succumbed to her injuries at the scene and her passenger Angela Curtis, 74, of Cynthiana, KY, was transported to Frankfort Regional Medical Center and later airlifted to the University of Kentucky Hospital for further treatment. The same commercial vehicle continued and struck another commercial vehicle operated by John McBroom, 39, of Crittenden, KY causing McBroom’s vehicle to strike another commercial vehicle operated by John Pryor III, 46, of Powell, TN.  Pryor’s commercial vehicle then struck a commercial vehicle operated by Jason Robertson, 21, of Louisville, KY.  Jackson and McBroom both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 13, 2025) – The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 12 Frankfort is continuing to investigate a multi-vehicle collision on I-64 westbound in Woodford County near the 61-mile marker. At approximately 7:30 p.m. (EDT), KSP was contacted by Versailles Police Department requesting the reconstruction and investigation of a fatal collision. The preliminary investigation indicates four tractor-trailers were involved and two passenger cars. Two of the four commercial vehicle drivers and one of the passenger vehicle occupants were pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other passenger vehicle occupants and one commercial vehicle driver were injured and transported from the scene to various hospitals. Due to the complex nature of the collision, the number of vehicles involved, and the fire at the scene, more information is not available at this time and will be released as the investigation proceeds.
