{"id":58561,"date":"2026-04-28T09:43:45","date_gmt":"2026-04-28T13:43:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kentuckystatepolice.ky.gov\/?p=58561"},"modified":"2026-04-28T09:43:45","modified_gmt":"2026-04-28T13:43:45","slug":"p15-4-27-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kentuckystatepolice.ky.gov\/news\/p15-4-27-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Kentucky State Police Investigates Fatal Collision on US 68 in Marion County"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>LEBANON, Ky.&nbsp; (April 27, 2026)<\/strong> \u2013 Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 Troopers were requested by the Marion County Sheriff\u2019s Office to respond to a two-vehicle injury collision, just before 5 A.M. EDT this morning, on US 68 (Danville Highway) in Marion County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The preliminary investigation revealed that Mahalia Brown, 43, of Magnolia, Mississippi, was traveling west on US 68 in a 2018 Toyota Camry.&nbsp; Ms. Brown crossed the centerline and entered the eastbound lane of US 68 into the path of a 2018 Kenworth dump truck traveling east on US 68, operated by Christopher Perkins, 49, of Campbellsville.&nbsp; Mr. Perkins attempted to avoid a collision by braking and steering, but was unable to do so, and the two vehicles collided in a head-on manner.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mahalia Brown, along with a passenger in her vehicle, Benjamin Thompson, 20, of Magnolia, Mississippi, were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Marion County Coroner.&nbsp; A second passenger in Ms. Brown\u2019s vehicle, Darian Thompson, 22, of Magnolia, Mississippi, was transported to Spring View Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.&nbsp; Christopher Perkins was also transported ot Spring View Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KSP Post 15 Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Marion County Sheriff&#8217;s Office, Marion County EMS, Lebanon Fire Department, Gravel Switch Fire Department and the Marion County Coroner\u2019s Office.\u00a0 Detective Weston Sullivan is investigating the collision. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p># # #<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LEBANON, Ky.&nbsp; (April 27, 2026) \u2013 Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 15 Troopers were requested by the Marion County Sheriff\u2019s Office to respond to a two-vehicle injury collision, just before 5 A.M.
