(March 11, 2026)<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2014 The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 4 will participate in Operation C.A.R.E. (Crash Awareness and Reduction Effort) from March 9-17, 2026, joining law enforcement agencies across the nation in a coordinated effort to improve roadway safety and reduce preventable crashes. This effort is timely, as schools throughout the state begin taking their scheduled spring break, which typically leads to increased travel. Operation C.A.R.E., organized by the International Association of Chiefs of Police, is designed to increase public awareness and enforcement aimed at dangerous driving behaviors that contribute to serious and fatal crashes. During the campaign, KSP troopers will conduct enhanced patrols throughout the region, intended to remind motorists that safe driving decisions can save lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Captain Jeremy Smith, commander of KSP Post 4, believes this effort will help keep Kentucky\u2019s roadways safe for everyone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOperation C.A.R.E. is an opportunity for our troopers to proactively address the behaviors that most often lead to serious crashes,\u201d Captain Smith said. \u201cBy increasing patrols and engaging with the public, we hope to encourage safer driving habits and help ensure everyone reaches their destination safely.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KSP encourages motorists to travel responsibly and remain aware during the upcoming spring travel season:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2022 Stay Focused on Driving<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Keep your attention on the road and avoid distractions such as cell phone use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2022 Buckle Up<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Seatbelts remain one of the most effective ways to reduce injuries and fatalities in crashes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2022 Never Drive Impaired<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Alcohol and drugs can affect your ability to drive safely. Plan ahead and arrange for a sober ride if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u2022 Report Unsafe Driving<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 If you observe suspected criminal activity, contact your nearest KSP Post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through initiatives like Operation C.A.R.E., the Kentucky State Police continue working to prevent crashes and protect the lives of those traveling on Kentucky roadways.
