{"id":55937,"date":"2026-02-16T08:40:53","date_gmt":"2026-02-16T13:40:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kentuckystatepolice.ky.gov\/?p=55937"},"modified":"2026-02-16T08:40:53","modified_gmt":"2026-02-16T13:40:53","slug":"p13-2-13-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kentuckystatepolice.ky.gov\/news\/p13-2-13-2026\/","title":{"rendered":"Kentucky State Police Investigate Leslie County Fatal Fire"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Hyden, Ky (February 14, 2026)<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 On Friday, February 13, 2026, at approximately 10:53 p.m., Kentucky State Police, Post 13 Hazard, was notified of a residential structure fire along Highway 421 in the Hyden community of Leslie County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emergency personnel responded to the scene and successfully extinguished the fire. During a subsequent search of the residence, the remains of three individuals were discovered inside the home. Detectives with Kentucky State Police responded and initiated an investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preliminary findings indicate the deceased individuals are believed to be the residents of the home: Lisa Marcum, 56; Jadeana Begley, 50; and June Nantz, 84, all of Hyden. All three were pronounced deceased at the scene by the Leslie County Coroner\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this time, no foul play is suspected. The remains have been transported to the Medical Examiner\u2019s Office in Frankfort for autopsies.
