{"id":54510,"date":"2026-01-05T08:04:05","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T13:04:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kentuckystatepolice.ky.gov\/?p=54510"},"modified":"2026-01-05T08:04:53","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T13:04:53","slug":"p8-12-31-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kentuckystatepolice.ky.gov\/news\/p8-12-31-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Kentucky State Police Conduct Death Investigation in Wolfe County"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>CAMPTON, Ky.<\/strong> <strong>(January, 1, 2026)<\/strong> \u2013 On Wednesday, December 31, 2025 around 2:30 p.m. Kentucky State Police (KSP) post 8 was contacted by United Clinic in Campton stating there was a lady in the clinic whom disclosed that she had aborted her pregnancy at her residence on Flat Mary Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Troopers and Detectives arrived at the clinic and launched an investigation. Detectives interviewed Melinda S. Spencer, 35 of Campton Kentucky.&nbsp; Ms. Spencer stated to detectives that she had ordered medication online to complete an abortion. Ms. Spencer took the medication which resulted in the death of a developed male infant. Ms. Spencer then buried the infant on the backside of her property in a shallow grave.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Troopers and Detectives responded near the 3700 block of Flat Mary Road where they located the infant in a shallow grave just as Ms. Spencer had stated. As a result of this investigation KSP arrested Melinda S. Spencer charging her with Fetal Homicide 1st degree, Abuse of a Corpse and Tampering with Physical Evidence.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>KSP was assisted by Wolfe County Sheriff&#8217;s Office and Wolfe County Coroner&#8217;s Office.
